Your photos
When you check a photo, it is used only to perform the analysis you asked for. There are no accounts, and this site does not keep your photos as a history or account record.
- In your browser: before uploading, your browser shrinks the photo (to at most 1,568 pixels on its longest side) and saves it as a new JPEG image. In current browsers, this re-saving normally removes embedded photo metadata, such as GPS location. Only this re-saved copy is uploaded, not the original file on your device.
- On our server: the resized image is held in the server’s memory while your check is processed and is then discarded. Our code does not write it to disk, save it to a database, or include it in server logs.
- Image-analysis provider: to classify the photo, our server sends the resized image to a third-party AI service provider (currently Anthropic) as needed to produce the analysis. The provider handles it under its own terms and data policies, which may include keeping request data for a limited period.
- Your preview and answers: the photo preview, and any answer you give to a follow-up question, stay in your browser. Follow-up answers are not sent to our server.
IP addresses and usage limits
To keep this free tool from being overused, the server limits how many photos can be checked from each IP address per hour and per day. When a photo reaches the analysis step, the server records your IP address and the time of the check in its memory. These records are used only to apply the limits.
Check times older than 24 hours stop counting. An address is removed during a cleanup that runs as new checks come in, so it may stay in memory somewhat longer than 24 hours when the site is quiet. All of these records are cleared whenever the server restarts. They are not written to disk or saved to a database.
Separately, like most websites, our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested) under its own policies. We don’t collect your precise location.
Cookies, storage, and analytics
This site does not set its own cookies and does not use your browser’s local storage. Google Analytics and other analytics services are not currently enabled, so no usage analytics are collected, and our pages do not currently load advertising or third-party tracking scripts. If that changes, this page will be updated to describe what is used.
What results mean
This tool compares visible driveway patterns for general educational purposes. A photo can't confirm the underlying cause or condition of the concrete.
Driveway Crack Checker compares a photo with a small set of common visible patterns. It does not diagnose causes, assess safety or structural condition, estimate costs, or give engineering, legal, or contractor advice. If you’re concerned about your driveway, consider having a qualified person look at it in person.
